About Zomby

Often wearing a mask when performing live, British post-dubstep producer Justin Moulds began releasing material as Zomby in the mid-2000s. His initial output was steeped in nostalgia for early rave culture—observe the title of his 2008 debut album, Where Were U In ’92?—while also playful enough to recast a sample of Aaliyah’s slinky 2001 hit “Rock the Boat” into a juddering house anthem on the same year’s “Float”. After 2011’s surprisingly downbeat and diffuse Dedication, Moulds split the 2013 double album With Love evenly between his slower and more accelerated modes. As Zomby’s work continued to splinter into prismatic new directions, collaborations with grime pioneer Wiley and likeminded producer Burial confirmed Moulds’ status in the upper echelons of British electronic music. And he has continued to both twist and embrace individual subgenres for inspiration, as heard on the 2022 EP Acid.
