Menudo Essentials

Menudo captivated hearts around the world with pearly-white smiles and a string of effervescent hits that canonised the group as teenage pop icons of the ‘80s. The brainchild of Puerto Rican record producer Edgardo Díaz, the band was conceived in 1977 as a constantly rotating troupe of adolescent performers that inevitably became a hotbed for future superstars including Ricky Martin and Draco Rosa. Menudo's breakthrough came four years later with shimmering disco singles “Súbete A Mi Moto” ("Get On My Motorcycle") and “Claridad” (“Clarity”), the latter a cover of Umberto Tozzi's Italo-pop smash. Soon, the group achieved a string of charting singles and regularly graced the covers of teen magazines. Though its popularity waned throughout the ‘90s, multiple rebrands and reunion shows kept the Menudo dream alive, officially relaunching in 2023 with an all-new, international cast of heartthrobs.
