Fugees Essentials

A New Jersey trio that boldly fused rap, R&B and reggae, Fugees became one of the biggest groups of the ‘90s with The Score. That blockbuster sophomore album used breakbeats to reimagine the ‘70s ballad “Killing Me Softly With His Song” and married an Enya sample to a Delfonics chorus on “Ready or Not”. A third album never came; the group splintered into three solo acts that produced hits like Wyclef Jean's bittersweet rap ballad “Gone Till November”, Pras' jiggy dance-floor smash “Ghetto Supastar” and Lauryn Hill's wise, soulful “Doo Wop (That Thing)”.
