About The Teardrop Explodes

In the late 1970s, Julian Cope, Ian McCulloch, and Pete Wylie were members of Liverpool band the Crucial Three. They went on to form the Teardrop Explodes, Echo & the Bunnymen, and Wah! Heat, respectively, the nucleus of the UK's co-called "neo-psychedelic" movement of the early '80s. Though heavily influenced by the Scott Walker and Syd Barrett, Teardrop Explodes were bursting at the seams with catchy pop tunes, tinged with moody psychedelic textures. Their two albums made them a British sensation, before the notoriously unpredictable Cope ended the group to begin a solo career.
