About Sarah Coburn

Soprano Sarah Coburn has a large repertory of operatic roles, focusing on Italian bel canto opera. She has sung in the world premieres of several important operas. In 2007, Coburn was heard as Princess Yue-Yang in the world premiere production of Tan Dun's opera The First Emperor, and in the same year, she originated the role of Kitty in David Carlson's opera Anna Karenina, a production was recorded and gave Coburn her first album credit in 2009. In the 2010s, Coburn appeared at many opera houses in the U.S. and abroad. Her repertory extends from Handel to the contemporary era but is rich in works by Rossini, Bellini, and Donizetti. She has made multiple appearances both in opera and in concert with tenor Lawrence Brownlee. In 2017, she and Brownlee were featured in a recording of Bellini's I Puritani; that album appeared in 2021.
