About Oliver Nelson

Swedish producer and DJ Oliver Nelson makes sunny, hook-filled dance tracks chiefly inspired by disco, funk, and pop. He has released several heavily streamed original tracks and co-productions, including 2017's "Riding Shotgun" (with Kygo and Bonnie McKee), as well as remixes for Kesha, Ella Henderson, the Wombats, and many others. Along with producers/songwriters Lucas Nord and flyckt, Nelson formed the electro-pop trio Moodshift in 2020, debuting with the single "Chemistry." Born and raised in Stockholm, Oliver Nelson began playing drums when he was eight years old, and started producing electronic music at 17, citing disco, funk, and electro as his favorite genres and Jamiroquai and Justice among his biggest influences. His remix of Portland's "Deezy Daisy" appeared on Kitsuné Maison Compilation 15 in 2013, while his reworks of tunes by Tove Lo, Ella Henderson, and Whitney Houston brought him more mainstream exposure. Nelson's first original single, the nu-disco track "Found Your Love" (featuring Heir), first appeared online in May 2015, and was officially released by Polydor the following September. He continued releasing upbeat dance-pop singles like 2016's "Ain't a Thing" (featuring Kaleem Taylor) and 2017's "Rhubarb," and he collaborated with tropical house star Kygo and singer/songwriter Bonnie McKee on "Riding Shotgun" the same year. Appearing at festivals like Ushuaïa and TomorrowWorld, Nelson remained productive in the studio, collaborating with fellow Swedish producer Tobtok on tracks like a 2018 remake of Nena's "99 Red Balloons," and additionally working with Australian pop idol Guy Sebastian on the song "Feel Alright." Along with Norwegian Grammy-winning producer Lucas Nord and singer/songwriter flyckt, he founded the group Moodshift, and the trio released their first two singles, "Chemistry" and "What About My Love," in 2020. Nelson's 2015 remix of British indie rock band the Wombats' single "Greek Tragedy" went viral on TikTok in early 2021, and the track was officially re-released. ~ Paul Simpson
