About Josh Alexander

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The first time I heard Samual Barber's "Adagio For Strings", it was like a transcendent and spiritual experience. In that moment, I distinctly remember for the first time not just hearing, but viscerally feeling the power and poignancy of music. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Chamber Choir of Europe, I Virtuosi Italiani, Morten Lauridsen, Nicol Matt, Light Eternal – The Choral Music of Morten Lauridsen Joni Mitchell, Both Sides Now Leonard Bernstein, New York Philharmonic, Barber: Adagio for Strings - Copland: Appalachian Spring, Rodeo & Billy the Kid Joni and Vince Mendoza's orchestral reimagining of some of her most iconic songs", Leonard Bernstein's take on Barber's timeless"Adagio For Strings", and Morten Lauridsen's deeply spiritual choral work, remind me of the life affirming power of music. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Just Hold Me” This was inspired by something my wife said to me one day. She was dealing with a difficult situation, and I was trying to fix it with ideas and plans of action. She gently said to me, "just hold me, that's all I need from you right now." What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Seeing the pieces that I wrote to bring myself deeper understanding, peace, and hope, reach and effect many people, and hearing the ways in which it brought them a similar feeling. This is deeply moving, and the entire reason I do what I do. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I feel I am just getting started. There is so much to express, so much music yet to be written, so many different ways of conveying feelings and emotions. I am so looking forward to touring and connecting with audiences all over the world.
