About Andrew Rangell

Pianist Andrew Rangell has explored mainstream repertory from Beethoven to the 20th century moderns in fresh, sometimes unconventional ways. Rangell studied at the Juilliard School through the doctoral level. He gave recitals at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the 92nd Street Y in New York and was also a fixture of Boston's concert scene. Rangell's career continued its upward trajectory in the late 1980s as he began to record, appeared at the Mostly Mozart Festival, and performed the first of several complete cycles of Beethoven's piano sonatas. In 1991, he was sidelined by nerve and muscle injuries in one hand, rebuilding his technique in therapy over seven years. Rangell has recorded for the Dorian, Bridge, and Steinway & Sons labels. ~ James Manheim
