Richie Spice Essentials

Richie Spice helped bring Rasta consciousness and social awareness to reggae's dancehall era. Along with Tarrus Riley and Jah Cure, he ushered in a roots reggae renaissance in the late '90s/early '00s. Born Richell Bonner, he has three brothers—Pliers, Spanner Banner and Snatcha Lion—who are also reggae artists. He first gained notoriety with his single "Earth a Run Red", which took on the poverty and struggle in Jamaica. Later singles took on things he was in favor of: "Marijuana" and African women ("Brown Skin"). More recently he's made one of reggae's few acoustic albums.
