Enter Shikari refuse to be hemmed in by genre. Their sound unites a bevy of heavy rock styles (death metal, technical screamo, punk-infused indie) with electronic idioms (dubstep, drum ‘n' bass, trance), often at the same time. But there's just as much variety in Rou Reynolds' vocals—he shrieks, shouts, barks, raps, croons—and the synthesisers offer up as much melody as rhythm. Add in social advocacy worthy of their inspiration Rage Against the Machine, encompassing global warming, war, privacy and economic austerity, and you've got an outfit too up-to-date to be ignored.
