About Velvet Hammer

Tribal rockers Velvet Hammer formed in Houston, TX, in 1991 around the nucleus of singer/bassist Lynda Millard and singer/keyboardist Ginger Doss, who co-founded the group along with guitarist Dana Davis and drummer Katrina Lassberg. The trio disbanded two years later, with Millard and Doss relocating to the Austin area and reuniting as DosMillard; by 1994, they were again performing with Davis and Lassberg as Velvet Hammer, releasing the album Live in 1995. Lassberg again left the lineup soon after and was replaced by drummer Joel Duhon. 1997's Storybook balanced material dating back to 1992 with newer recordings, and preceded the exits of both Davis and Duhon; Come Down, recorded with new drummers Tawnney and Nighthawk, followed in 1999. After a long hiatus, the group returned to the studio in 2007 for Somebody Else's Life. ~ Jason Ankeny
