About The Vigilantes of Love

The Athens, Georgia-based Vigilantes Of Love, like many of their 1990s-era townsmen, had a pared-down, rootsy sound that blended sweet acoustic pop with some slightly dissonant je ne se quois that distanced it from pure folk. The band were also known for their literate lyrics that often reflected leader Bill Mallonee’s Christian faith. The band spent much of the ‘90s touring and recording for Capricorn Records, but returned to independent status in ’98. In 2002, Mallonee retired the group and embarked on a solo career.
