About Helen Morgan
One of the first, and certainly one of the most accomplished torch singers in the history of popular music, Helen Morgan began singing in small Chicago clubs. She graduated to revue by the early-1920s, appearing in New York in SCANDALS and AMERICANA before starring in the original production of Jerome Kern’s SHOW BOAT in 1927. She would reprise her role in the 1932 revival of Show Boat, as well as the 1929 and 1936 screen versions of the classic story. In addition to her many screen credits, she scored several hits in the late-'20s & early-'30s, with hits like "A Tree In The Park," "Mean To Me," and "Body And Soul."
