Alex Hitchcock

About Alex Hitchcock

Alex Hitchcock is a jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. As an undergraduate, he served as director of the Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra. He worked with the Tom Smith Septet, Resolution 88, and Joe Hill's North Ark, then formed a namesake quintet and released Live at the London and Cambridge Jazz Festivals in 2018. They followed with All Good Things in 2019. Later that year, he formed AuB with bassist/composer Tom Barford and drummer James Maddren. Their eponymous debut appeared in 2020 to laudatory reviews. On 2021's Dream Band, Hitchcock led three different ensembles playing originals, simply to hear the contrasts. 2022's acclaimed Same Moon in the Same World, in collaboration with guitarist Ant Law, was recorded with international jazz luminaries contributing virtually. 2024's Dream Band: Live in London was recorded over three nights at London's Vortex Club with three handpicked bands, performing music specifically composed for each ensemble.
