Black Moon

Black Moon

After a 14-year hiatus, Emerson, Lake & Palmer reunited for 1992’s Black Moon. The title song is a funky stomp fired by Keith Emerson’s new arsenal of synth sounds. Despite the windswept ballad “Affairs of the Heart,” the older band sounds grittier than they did in the ‘70s. “Farewell to Arms” is one of their weightiest ballads, with a surging synth solo that appears like a burst of light. “Burning Bridges” is the perfect finale to ELP’s career, a majestic denouement to a musical adventure fueled by imagination.
