Sonic Youth's guitar hero has nurtured a solo career that's happy to change course. Debuting with 1995's Psychic Hearts and detouring again on 2007's Trees Outside the Academy, Moore turned fully to his own work after his beloved band finished in 2011. He's floated between folky meandering and no wave muscle since then, grounded always by his daydreaming voice and adventurous guitar tunings. Moore continues to tap the best collaborators around, from fellow '90s icon Beck—who produced 2011's Demolished Thoughts—to My Bloody Valentine bassist Debbie Googe and Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley.
