When Thursday formed in 1997, they had no idea their throat-shredding mixture of post-hardcore and emo would one day land them on mainstream rock radio. The band's debut album, Waiting, was an underground hit. Without changing their sound in the slightest, the one-two punch of 2001's Full Collapse and 2003's War All The Time unexpectedly propelled Thursday to international acclaim. Spearheading emo's surprise arrival in the mainstream, Thursday's next three albums would be more experimental, exploring art rock, post rock, emo and post-hardcore through a pop lens.
