Ratatat Essentials

Ratatat Essentials

With their self-titled 2004 release, Brooklyn duo Ratatat created a niche all their own between Ninja Tune-style trip-hop, instrumental hip-hop and hazy, heavily effected post-rock guitar. With subsequent albums, they've expanded their quirky, hypnotic sound, adding in Middle Eastern and Asian instrumentation and collaborating with big-name rappers and indie bands alike. Ratatat's music trips from the chilled future funk of 2006's Classics to the psychedelic space rap of "Pursuit of Happiness (Nightmare)" with Kid Cudi and MGMT.
