With a name that translates to The Magic Theatre, this band fulfils the promise of their wondrous moniker. Though nominally pop rock, the freewheeling crew channel many disparate sounds and styles, from blues to EDM; in turn reflective of their medium-spanning output in poetry, politics, circus, and performance art. “O Anjo Mais Velho”, with its bloodied bass guitar and swelling strings, is rousing stadium rock; “Nosso Pequeño Castelo”, with brittle percussion and gurning accordion, is an elegiac jazz number, while “Pena” fluctuates from frenzied funk breakdowns to a chant-along synth chorus.
