Mara Tremblay Essentials

Mara Tremblay spent the ‘90s singing and playing violin, bass and mandolin in a handful of Québec groups, but it was with her 1999 debut album, Le chihuahua, that the singer/songwriter's unique folk- and country-tinged sound really took shape. That record announced her arrival with a blast of hooky pop tunes, breezy ballads, sometimes-noisy guitar-fuelled rockers and cabaret-style country ditties. It also started her collection of Félix Awards—which she's regularly added to since. Explore the firebrand francophone's quirky, always-evolving pop style here.
