Piseiro phenom João Gomes began singing at parties and local festivals in his home city of Serrito. He dreamt of playing football professionally, then went to university to study farming. Meanwhile, he nurtured a love of the forro rhythms he was raised on while admiring emcees like Orochi and Matuê. After compositions he casually dropped online went viral, Gomes released his first album in 2021. His lilting instrumentation and smooth rap verses spark a hypnotic soundscape that’s lyrically heartfelt.
