James Taylor Essentials

James Taylor Essentials

If there were a Madame Tussaud's solely for singer/songwriters, James Taylor would surely take its centre stage. In the early ‘70s, Taylor tunes like the bucolic, wind-in-your-hair traveller's ode “Country Road” and the warm, folk-tinged lullaby “Sweet Baby James” made mellow, introspective post-folk ballads the coin of the realm. And a little later on, Taylor combined infectious pop moves with burnished R&B influences on ubiquitous hits like the sun-dappled “Your Smiling Face” and his sultry cover of the 1959 Jimmy Jones tune “Handy Man”.
