With DIY ethics and a knack for progressive phrasing, High Tone formed in Lyon in the latter part of the ‘90s and quickly became France's foremost purveyors of dub music. A strong world music influence set them apart from the start, blending vocals with wind and string samples from the Middle and Far East together in a transcendent old-meets-new mix. High Tone continue to expand their vocabulary by adding dubstep and rap— and on 2014's Ekphrön album, even finding space for cello. Their addictive sound continues to reverberate in clubs across Europe, as loud and proud as ever.
