With roots in the country rock outfit the Flying Burrito Brothers and blues rock band Zephyr, Firefall excelled at country-tinged soft rock. Their biggest hit, the love song "You Are the Woman", is definitive of their sound—the song's sprightly flute flourishes and sweet sentiment making the heart sing. Other hits include the early '80s duet with Lisa Nemzo, "Staying With It", a more straightforward, dreamy midtempo rocker. Firefall continued to perform over the years, expressing their love for The Beatles with a tribute album in the late ‘00s.
