Fabe Essentials

A deep, conscientious wordsmith, Fabe made his name in ‘90s Paris. His debut album, Befa Surprend ses Frères, featured tracks rapping about his experiences with family, education and graffiti—songs were built on rolling snare drums and jazz-rooted samples, grooving beneath his laconic delivery. Later joining like-minded rap crew Scred Connexion, he then left following their first album in 2000, eventually giving up music to study theology in Quebec. On his final solo album La Rage de Dire, tracks play out like moral dissections, set to a backdrop of melancholic strings and vocal soul samples.
