Eddie Palmieri Essentials
Apple Music
He was called 'the Latin Monk' on the streets of New York in the ‘60s and known for his sophisticated developments on Latin jazz traditions. Puerto Rican composer Eddie Palmieri playfully incorporated trombones, flutes, extended piano solos and unique harmonies into the songs of his first band, Conjucto La Perfecta. He was the first Latin musician to win the GRAMMY® for his album The Sun of Latin Music, which fused a progressive, big band sound with Cuban rhythms. By tastefully modifying traditional approaches, Eddie developed an energetic dance groove all his own.
