One of the most vital forces in Flemish rock, De Kreuners kicked their career into gear at the height of punk in 1978. But soon the band took on a more sophisticated sensibility—their sharp, melodic music marked out by heavy surf riffs, piercing guitar lines and an artful sound that takes its cue from New Wave. The five-piece thrashed out an impressive 13 albums, including debut Nachts Kouder Dan Buiten (1981) and smash commercial hit Hier En Nu (1990). They may have disbanded in 2012 but the band's aftershocks are still felt across the country's rock terrain.
