Dan Sultan Essentials

Broad of shoulder and smouldering of eye, Dan Sultan has a way of turning knees to jelly before he's unleashed the first flinty notes from his mighty soul man's lungs. Born of Irish, Arrernte and Gurindji blood, his early roots-rock albums Homemade Biscuits and ARIA-winning Get Out While You Can struck a chord with the Australian indigenous rock narrative, endorsed by his star turn in the 2009 film musical, Bran Nue Dae, and recurring role in the inherently political Black Arm Band. Recorded in Nashville with Jacquire King (Kings of Leon), his third album Blackbird saw him parting ways with co-writer Scott Wilson and mining a more universal seam of lean riff-rock and Stax-flavoured soul.
