Claude Bolling Essentials

Since the late '50s, the French jazz pianist and composer Claude Bolling had a knack for writing hits. His work relies on organs, classical piano and keyboard instrumentals while showing no hesitancy to bend rules or expectations. As an artist who took risks throughout his career, Bolling played with a wide variety of styles like the breakaway funk in “Pop Mod”, the country blues in “Electra”, and the swinging honky tonk cabaret found in “Valentin 1925”. His soundtracks are a contradictory mix: celebratory yet modest, familiar yet surprising.
