Hailing from Capri, composer Carlo Rustichelli was one of Italy's most versatile and sought-after film composers. A post-war move to Rome led to collaborations with the major directors of Italian cinema—including Pier Paolo Pasolini, Mario Monicelli and notably Pietro Germi—as he went on to pen hundreds of scores across his 40-year career. Preserving a distinct lyricism and wit throughout, he coloured dramas and westerns with nuanced emotion and piano-tinged levity, veering into suspenseful jazz and playful cha-cha along the way.
