Baaba Maal: Deep Cuts

Before going global in the '90s, Senegal's Baaba Maal recorded "Sawaly", a standout blend of traditional drumming, horns and guitar that brims with Dakar street flavour. Maal later made rare forays into both Nigerian Afrobeat, joining drummer Tony Allen for "No Agreement", and the Great American songbook, with his unlikely Pulaar-language take on George Gershwin's "Bess, You Is My Woman Now".
