New York City DJ and producer Anthony Naples, who ran the label Proibito between 2013 and 2017, is a chameleon—and not just because he has a track called “Chameleon”. With an output that often flitters between calm downtempo cuts and buoyant club bops, Naples brings a DIY ethos to his style of house and techno music. Synth shimmer and lo-fi production are trademarks of his slower tracks but there are fast-paced, tour-de-force arrangements too—all marks of a real sonic explorer.
