French-Italian drummer Aldo Romano made a name for himself as a member of Don Cherry's band in the ‘60s before taking the lead with his own groups. His debut as a bandleader came in 1979, embracing prog and funk influences, with tracks like “Nano! Nano!” creating a fast-paced experimental fusion. Regularly appearing alongside musicians such as Henri Texier and Louis Sclavis, Romano brings incredible energy to any lineup. A rhythm king with a magnificent back catalogue, he brings high-tempo swing and flamboyant flurries to hard bop, free jazz or smooth ballads.
