Alan Sorrenti Essentials

In one of his beloved hits, “Figli delle stelle”, Alan Sorrenti paints a picture of lovers like stars in the sky—and it’s the charming ascent of his falsetto that takes us with him. Born in Naples in 1950, Sorrenti spent his childhood years in his mother’s homeland of Wales, giving him a bilingual talent that’s reflected in his work. His musical style also went on a journey: he experimented with folky prog-rock in the early ’70s, as on his debut album Aria, before taking a more accessible turn in the second half of the decade—from the funky “Un incontro in ascensore” to the disco-pop of “Try to Imagine”.
