About T. Texas Tyler

Western Swing baron T. Texas Tyler got his start in show business upon moving to Los Angeles following his service in WWII. In addition to fronting his own band, he also starred in the television series RANGE ROUND UP. He had a minor hit with the tune "Filipino Baby," but scored big in 1948 with his version of "Deck of Cards," which made it to number two on the country charts. Tyler had further Top 10 successes with "Courtin’ In The Rain," "Memories Of France," "My Bucket’s Got A Hole in It," and the tear-jerking ditty "Dad Gave My Dog Away." He also appeared in several western films and was one of the first country stars to appear at Carnegie Hall.
