Robert Fuchs

About Robert Fuchs

After studying the organ, violin, flute and piano Fuchs moved to Vienna at the age of eightteen. Throughout most of his life he earned a living as a teacher but also composed a number of works including operas, symphonies, vocal music and chamber pieces. Brahms befriended him, encouraged his composition and was partial to Fuchs's Symphony in C-dur. The major influence that Fuchs had is easily understood through the people he taught -- Mahler, Sibelius, Wolf and Zemlinsky. ~ Keith Johnson
