In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. We met in high school in 1998 and started playing jazz standards and covers of modern songs together. Performing at school events, we discovered a shared language that eventually grew into the trio we are today. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bill Evans Trio, Sunday At The Village Vanguard (Live At The Village Vanguard / 1961) Brad Mehldau, Songs: The Art of the Trio, Vol. 3 Gary Peacock, Jack DeJohnette, Keith Jarrett, Standards, Vol. 1 Brad Mehldau’s Art of the Trio shaped us early. His arrangement of ‘Exit Music’ was one of the first pieces we played. Scott Lafaro's Gloria's Step taught us interplay and Jarrett, DeJohnette and Peacock defined our approach to the trio tradition. Michel Reis, Marc Demuth & Paul Wiltgen)” "Diary Of An Unfettered Mind" reflects our love for open forms and rhythmic complexity. Built around a 15/16 groove, it grew from a simple melodic idea through interplay, capturing the freedom and trust that define our trio. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Touring with Joshua Redman was a highlight—especially headlining Cully Jazz Festival in 2018. Releasing Freedom Trail with the Luxembourg Philharmonic, conducted by Vince Mendoza and featuring Redman, marks another defining milestone. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We want our music to reach as many people as possible and to keep playing live. We believe deeply in the power of music to bring people together—something that feels more essential now than ever.
