Drawing influence from sleek '80s pop, lite jazz-funk, and smooth R&B, PREP puts a lovesick spin on synth pop. Founded by a group of established producers and led by Tom Havelock (aka Tom Cane), the U.K. quartet emerged with a fully developed sound on their debut EP, Futures, in 2016. Tracks including "Cheapest Flight" garnered tens of millions of streams. They delivered another pair of EPs before eventually releasing a full-length debut, PREP, in 2020. Singles including a 2022 cover of Harry Styles' "As It Was" and the 2023 original "One Day at a Time" stuck with a winning formula that kept their streaming numbers in the millions.
