About Honus Honus

Honus Honus is singer/songwriter/keyboardist Ryan Kattner. Though also known for his solo output, he first made his name as leader of the Billboard-charting experimental rock band Man Man. Kattner formed the group in Philadelphia in 2003 with guitarist/trumpeter Steven Dufala, bassist Clint Killingsworth, and drummer Tiberius Lyn. They made their full-length debut in 2004 with The Man in a Blue Turban with a Face. Drummer/songwriter Chris Powell, aka Pow Pow, replaced Lyn for the follow-up, Six Demon Bag, and Honus Honus was the only original member remaining for 2008's Rabbit Habits, the band's first album for the Anti- label and first appearance in the Billboard 200. On 2011's Life Fantastic and 2013's On Oni Pond, the band continued to segue toward more standard pop structures without compromising its eccentric approach. By then relocated to Los Angeles, Honus Honus made his solo debut on MRI with 2016's Use Your Delusion. The mix of danceable synth pop and heavier indie rock landed on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart, as well as Independent Albums and Heatseekers Albums. Assorted collaborators included actor/comedian Jon Daly, Adult Swim composer Cyrus Ghahremani, and drummer Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse, Cold War Kids). ~ Marcy Donelson & MacKenzie Wilson
