Hall Aflame

Having acted as a key songwriter on Metal Church's first two seminal albums, guitarist Kurt Vanderhoof soon tired of the hardships of touring, and quit the group to pursue new musical interests that would allow him to operate closer to home. The result was a new band called Hall Aflame, which also featured vocalist Ron Lowd, bassist Brian Smith and drummer Tom Weber. They recorded a bluesy hard rock album titled Guaranteed Forever for IRS in 1991. The record, however, struck out with both the public at large and with Metal Church fans, who probably expected Vanderhoof to stick with his former, metallic direction, and thereby spelling Hall Aflame's largely unheralded demise only months after its release. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
