About Ce'Cile

b. 1978, Manchester, Jamaica, West Indies. Cecile released her first recording when she was just 15. Her initial foray into the music industry was met with indifference, although her follow-up, ‘Beat Of My Heart’, recorded with Michael ‘Ibo’ Cooper of Third World, introduced her to a wider audience. To establish her career she performed on the live circuit with notable appearances at the Cactus nightclub and at the Reggae Sunsplash Festival in 1998. Her performance led to further engagements including a supporting role alongside, Buju Banton, Tanya Stephens and the Monster Shack Crew. She also provided backing vocals for Spanner Banner, Norris Man and Christini, which gave her experience in studio work. By 2000, her career was flourishing after a series of combination hits with artists including Nads (‘Silent River’), Mega Banton (‘Let’s Get It On’) and Saaba Tooth (‘Girls Fi Get Love’). In her own right she recorded a cover version of Jennifer Lopez’s ‘If You Had My Love’, which introduced the ‘Latino’ rhythm popularised by Capleton. The solo hit resulted in a revived interest from the dancehall fraternity for Cecile. As a result of her new-found fame she performed in Miami, Florida, USA and Canada where she won critical acclaim for an appearance at the AT&T Amphitheatre where she joined the line-up on the Power 106 presentation. Her accomplished performance resulted in a return to the USA where she was invited to perform at the annual Vermont Reggae Festival. While in America she made her television debut singing alongside Beenie Man on his ragga anthem, ‘Girls Dem Sugar’. The event was filmed by BET (Black Entertainment Television) for the Harlem Block Party, which was aired worldwide. In 2001, her career was fully established with the classic hits, ‘Liar’, ‘Wish You Never Lie To Me’, ‘Let Me Know’, the sublime ‘Changez’ and a combination hit with Mr. Vegas (‘Get Yuh Tonight’).
