Aaron Hibell applies his usual inventive outlook to progressive trance, techno and breakbeat on the first instalment of his Monastery of Sound mixtape series—something he envisages running for the length of his career. “This encapsulates pure creative freedom for me,” the DJ/producer tells Apple Music. “I had no intention of making a mixtape when I started these tracks, but the more I created the more it became apparent I needed to make a full project. This mixtape pulls on influences from all genres with no boundaries, which has been my goal from the start. The track-listing contains several originals and edits for some of my favourite artists such as Foals, RÜFÜS DU SOL and London Grammar. I hope listeners can find something they feel inspired by.”
