House heads could be forgiven if they hadn’t heard the name Honey Dijon prior to 2018. The DJ/producer had, for the most part, been honing her skills in Chicago’s and New York’s underground scenes for years before making the jump to Berlin, where she really gained a new foothold in clubs all across Europe. But she credits a special January 2018 Boiler Room engagement at Melbourne’s Sugar Mountain as a career-making set. “That one hour changed my life,” she tells Boiler Room Radio. "Twenty years of DJing showed up in that one hour.” And it almost didn’t happen: “When I showed up, it was like anything that could go wrong did go wrong,” she says. A delayed flight. A driver that didn’t show up. A rush to make it to the open-air stage on time. “I think a lot of that energy that was coming from me that particular day was pure adrenaline.” There’s a palpable electricity as she moves through these tracks—which span house, techno, tech house and more—but she makes her soulful intentions clear right up front, kicking things off with Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish”.
