Pierre Barouh Essentials

Composer and singer Pierre Barouh is an icon of '60s French pop music, renowned for the title track of Claude Lelouch's cult film A Man and a Woman. A contemporary of Serge Gainsbourg, Barouh shaped his sound by blending organ, acoustic guitar, jazz piano and soft percussion. His vocals on songs like "La Bicyclette" stun with sensuous yet nonchalant allure. Then there are his intimate duets with female vocalists, including the melancholic bossa nova "La Nuit des Masques" with Dominique Barouh, as well as the sweet, melancholic chanting alongside Anouk Aimée on "Un Homme et Une Femme".
