Misha Omar got her big break when she reached the finals of singing competition Bintang RTM in 2001. Although she didn't win, her self-titled debut album, released the following year, made Omar a household name thanks to the single "Bunga-Bunga Cinta”. The soulful singer continued her commercial success with second album Aksara. The record contained the haunting "Pulangkan", a song that became a career-defining hit for Omar when it was featured in local horror blockbuster Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam.
