While no francophone singer with a soul can avoid Edith Piaf's shadow, Moroccan-Canadian artist Nadia Essadiqi also tangles up her roots with Odezenne's rap-rock, Tove Lo's effervescent electro-pop and Klô Pelgag's prog whimsy. And of course she busted out of the chute in 2015 with a powerful Maghrebi Arabic translation of Rwandan-Belgian singer Stromae's "Formidable".
