Since debuting a song on the TV show Scrubs, Joshua Radin has gracefully settled into the role of soft-spoken troubadour. It's in the subtleties that he finds his voice—smooth, comforting and slightly timid, as if he's baring his soul just for you. Hints of Elliott Smith drift through Radin's intimate folk tales, some minimalist and unplugged, others enhanced by orchestral strings or featuring the occasional guest star, like Patty Griffin or Ingrid Michaelson. And while there's plenty of poignancy and heartbreak lurking throughout his catalogue, Radin always seems to find a silver lining.
