Emo-bruised rockers Jimmy Eat World have taken inspiration from many of the noisy, melodic bands that populated the '90s underground. The chewy hooks and worn-in guitars favoured by wiry pop maestros like The Get Up Kids and Nada Surf have informed the band's more accessible moments, and there's a direct line connecting the rousing hardcore attacks of D.C. legends like Fugazi and Jawbox to Jimmy Eat World's bracing emo-punk jabs.
