Since 2010, FRIDA GOLD have unleashed potent pop fuelled by Alina Süggeler’s malleable voice and gritty performances. The foursome topped the German album chart with 2013’s Liebe ist meine Religion, contrasting longing indie sounds with edgy electro-pop. Changes in the group’s line-up brought further innovations. The anthem “Run Run Run” is laced with hearty bursts of brass, while the acoustic “Verletzbar” and “Wach”—both from 2020’s Wach—underline two of the band’s major strengths: soul-stirring delivery and fearlessly honest songwriting.
