Cursive Essentials

Perhaps the loudest band to emerge from the Saddle Creek scene in Omaha, Nebraska, Tim Kasher's post-hardcore outfit Cursive keeps it personal when it comes to the subject of their music. 2000's Domestica became an indie rock hit because it was a sprawling concept album about Kasher's own divorce. That connection added emotional weight to the slashing guitars and seething lyrics, and later albums like 2003's The Ugly Organ didn't stray too far from home, either, even as the band got more musically ambitious.
